Citiscapes

Vimmi Indra's Cityscapes illustrate not just her own perception of cities but instead give every viewer the freedom to perceive them as they wish to perceive them. Using bright colors, she juxtaposes images of the real with the imaginary to create cities free from the associated congestion and chaos. Her maiden solo exhibition, titled ‘Citiscapes As Imagined By VIMMI INDRA’ was held in March 2012 at Triveni Kala Sangam, New Delhi. The show was inaugurated by Shri O P Jain, founder, and chairman of Sanskriti Foundation, attended by eminent personalities from the art field. The second edition of the exhibition was held in 2014. In this edition, her paintings were a combination of reality and imagination with liberal use of Indian colors and bright ornamentation, intended to remind the people about the beauty around them. Inaugurating the second edition, designer Ritu Kumar said that she was impressed with Vimmi's ability to make use of every inch of the canvas into something creative and sensible.
